Salt Lake County & north Utah County
Deck Service Areas Across the Salt Lake Valley
Herriman is home. Beyond it we work across the south end of the valley, north through the older suburbs, and south over the Point of the Mountain into Utah County — 23 places in total, each with its own terrain, housing stock and building department.
Why location changes the job
A deck in Bluffdale is not a deck in Holladay
Most of what differs between these cities comes down to two things: when the houses went up, and what the ground under them is doing.
The south end of the valley — Herriman, Riverton, Bluffdale, Daybreak, parts of South Jordan and West Jordan — is largely post-1998 construction on former farmland and bench. Those decks are original builder work, now fifteen to twenty-five years old, and they are hitting the age where ledgers, footings and guard posts declare themselves.
Further north, Murray, Millcreek, Holladay, South Salt Lake and eastern West Valley City are post-war suburbs. Decks there have often been added, altered and re-covered by several owners, and what we find under the boards is less predictable. Bench cities like Cottonwood Heights and Draper add slope, which means taller posts, bracing and more stair.
And every one of these is a separate jurisdiction with its own building department, its own published design criteria, and its own view on what needs a permit. We check yours rather than assume.
- South valley: mostly post-1998 subdivisions, original decks now at repair-or-replace age
- Inner suburbs: post-war housing with decks that have been altered more than once
- Bench and foothill lots: slope, taller posts, more stair, and more attention to drainage
- Utah County: newer growth around Silicon Slopes with a lot of first-generation decks

Cities we cover
Herriman is covered by the homepage. Every other city has its own page describing what building there actually involves.
By area
Three groups, three sets of problems
South valley — Herriman, Riverton, South Jordan, Bluffdale, Daybreak, West Jordan
Post-1998 subdivisions on old farmland and rising bench. Decks here are mostly original to the house and mostly the same builder specification, which means they tend to fail in the same places at the same age. Repair and replacement dominate.
Central and north valley — Murray, Millcreek, Holladay, Midvale, Taylorsville, South Salt Lake, West Valley City, Salt Lake City
Post-war and mid-century housing, much of it built out by the 1980s. Decks have often been added later and altered since. Mature trees mean more shade, more debris in the board gaps and more moisture sitting in the frame.
Bench, foothill and Utah County — Draper, Sandy, Cottonwood Heights, Lehi, Highland, Alpine-adjacent
Slope is the defining feature. Taller posts, diagonal bracing, more stair, and drainage that has to be planned rather than assumed. Elevation also nudges snow load upward, which the framing has to reflect.
